Cllr Hugh Shepardson

I am seventy-six years of age and have represented the Pembrey Ward on Carmarthenshire County Council since 2008. I have served on a variety of Council Committees including the Authority’s Policy and Resources Committee, it’s Community Scrutiny Committee and several appointment Committees for Directors and Heads of Service.

Prior to taking up my elected member role I was employed for sixteen years on a part time basis as the Clerk and Financial Officer to Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council. My main career was with Dyfed County Council where after completing some thirty-two years of service I finished my full-time working career as the Chief Administrative Officer in the County Secretary’s Department. That role included giving me the responsibility for administering the day to day running of the Authority’s Committee system and looking after the needs of the Council’s elected members.

On a personal front I am married to Gwenda, and we have two children, Owen and Lowri, and four grandchildren. I am a keen golfer and enjoy fly fishing.
